Marvin (Nick) Saines is an interpretive naturalist/geologist at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area west of Las Vegas, where he leads geology hikes, gives geology talks, and does geological research. At Red Rock, he verified dinosaur footprints found by hikers and discovered an additional dinosaur track site. He has co-authored scientific papers on the finds with paleontologist Steve Rowland of the UNLV Geoscience Department. Nick has lived in Las Vegas since 1989 and has led numerous Sierra Club hiking weekends in the region, including Catalina Island, Laguna Beach, Sedona, and Death Valley. Nick holds a Ph.D. in geology from the University of Massachusetts.
