UNLV Continuing Education collaborates with The Learning Center to address the growing demand for IT and cybersecurity professionals
With hundreds of open information technology (IT) jobs across the region, UNLV is preparing to meet the demand for trained, skilled, and certified IT talent. UNLV Continuing Education is now collaborating with The Learning Center to offer more than 60 IT and cybersecurity courses.
"Our collaboration with The Learning Center brings a recognized technology training leader to the task," said Peg Rees, Vice Provost for Educational Outreach. "We are excited about working with them and what it will mean to meet a critical workforce need in our community."
The Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education, on behalf of UNLV, has signed an Operating Agreement with The Learning Center-Las Vegas to deliver IT and cybersecurity training. The UNLV program curriculum consists of classes for the beginner and extends into the highest level of cybersecurity training and certifications.
"The high demand for trained professionals with IT and cybersecurity skills and certifications has created a projected global shortage of approximately 4.5 million personnel, leaving organizations exposed to an unchecked threat to economic and national security," said Linda Montgomery, President of The Learning Center. "Our work with UNLV will bring unique and special resources to our community to address this rapidly growing shortage."
