ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Personal trainers and group fitness instructors enjoy flexible hours and energetic work environments including gyms, corporate fitness centers, and resorts. NASM Personal Fitness Trainer students learn to work one-on-one with clients to define their fitness and wellness goals and design customized training plans. As a Group Fitness Instructor student, you will discover how to share your love for fitness and inspire others through your classes. Be ready to teach everything from high intensity cycling to yoga, and help others enjoy getting fit with science-backed movements and exercises. These courses prepare you to earn a certificate from the National Academy of Sports Medicine’s (NASM) or the Athletics and Fitness Association of America's (AFAA) nationally-recognized programs.

What You Will Learn
By the end of the NASM Personal Fitness Trainer Program students will:
- Understand the fundamentals of human movement, resistance training, flexibility, cardiovascular training, balance, core reactive training, speed, agility and quickness.
- Gain experience with fitness assessments and know how to work with fitness clients.
- Be prepared for a career as a National Academy of Sports Medicine certified personal trainer.
By the end of the AFAA Group Fitness Instructor Program students will:
NASM Personal Fitness Trainer Program: To earn the NASM Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate from UNLV you must successfully complete the NASM Personal Fitness Trainer course. Students are also required to complete 50 hours of online coursework and fitness training outside of the normal class meeting times. CPR/AED Adult, Child & Infant 2-year certification (included) is required to test for your certification exam.
AFAA Group Fitness Instructor Program: To earn the AFAA Group Fitness Instructor Certificate from UNLV you must successfully complete the AFAA Group Fitness Instructor Course. CPR/AED Adult, Child & Infant 2-year certification (included) is required to test for your certification exam.
