Session descriptions

  • Budgeting & Reporting: The budgeting process, creating budgets, how budgets are presented and ultimately used in a business setting
    • Utilize your budgeting process to communicate and fund business priorities. Take a fresh approach to your company's finances once you reframe the budgeting process as a way to quantify management goals and focus leaders' thinking around planning for the future.
  • Accounting & Finance: Understanding basic finance and accounting principles including profit and loss statements, balance sheets and capitalization
    • Finance: Discuss how managers and investors evaluate projects and investments in order to determine whether an investment should be undertaken. Specifically, we will consider the methods and process of capital budgeting, the cost of raising capital, risk and return, and how to value future cash flows.
    • Accounting: Accounting measures the activities of a business by the dollars it receives and spends. This focus area provides a comprehensive picture of how managers, owners, and other stakeholders use accounting information to make decisions.
  • Professional Presence & Communication: Writing in a business context, business presentations, overall professional presence 
    • Gain confidence through learning key elements and tools to develop a professional presence. Learn how trust and respect can help you influence others. Focus on a variety of business communications for the organization - specifically writing in a business context and designing and delivering business presentations. Written communication will cover appropriate content, organization, and tone. Presentation delivery will focus on effective organization, content, delivery, non-verbal cues, use of media, and overall professional appearance.


  • Leadership & Negotiations: Leadership styles, team management, decision-making, negotiation techniques, contract negotiations
    • Leadership: Learn the behaviors, traits, and skills of effective leaders and managers. Differentiate between different leadership styles and discover how best to unlock your own leadership potential.
    • Negotiations: Leaders often spend a significant amount of their time dealing with conflict and its consequences. People deal with conflict in various ways, but the most effective conflict management tool, at least potentially, is to negotiate. Enhance your ability to negotiate deals, settle disputes, and make team-based decisions.


  • Sales & Marketing: Proposal writing, managing your sales funnel, identifying top prospects, branding, integrated marketing
    • Sales: Understanding the sales process and the role of a professional salesperson/manager is a critical part of any business, regardless of company size or customer profile. After outlining key steps within the sales process, you will identify ways to improve your company's sales efforts throughout the customer lifecycle.
    • Marketing: View your business from the customer's point of view so you can craft a marketing strategy tailored to your unique product and target audience. You will be provided with tools to develop an effective brand strategy and will learn the basics of how to analyze market opportunities, develop marketing plans, and implement marketing programs.


  • Quality Service & Service Operations: Understanding customer expectations, creating, and implementing proper service standards, focusing on the customer journey and quality management
    • Service Operations: Examine approaches for achieving operational competitiveness in a service-focused business and investigate several tools for analyzing service operations. Operational excellence is critical for success in any service industry, as businesses increasingly face deregulation, global competition, and rapidly-evolving information technology.

Once you fulfill all certificate program requirements as outlined in the Academic Plan, you may request your certificate.

Ways To Register

  1. Register online with a credit card at Returning students should login with their Continuing Education Student ID number (typically in the format of X00-00-000 or XW0-00-0000) or email address. New students should click on the Sign Up button or the “create account” link to create an account.
  2. Register by phone with a credit card by calling the Information Desk at 702-895-3394. Customer Service hours for the Information Desk are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed on university-observed holidays).
  3. Register by fax by submitting a Registration Form and credit card information to 702-895-4195. Registration forms received outside of regular Customer Services hours listed above will be processed on the next business day.
  4. Register by standard mail by mailing a Registration Form with payment to the address listed below. Payment must accompany the form and can be any of the following:
    a. Credit Card information listed on the Registration Form
    b. Check or Money Order made out to Board of Regents
